Optimizing the Value of Your Aircraft with CAMO: A Comprehensive Guide
In the world of aviation, ensuring the continuing airworthiness of your aircraft is imperative to ensure its safety and value retention. However, achieving these goals requires meticulous oversight and adherence to strict regulations. This is where a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO) steps in, offering tailored maintenance and operational programs endorsed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
QCM Design turns 10!
Ten years of innovation, dedication, and growth — QCM Design is celebrating a successful first decade. From its humble beginnings in 2013, QCM Design is now a thriving DOA which has grown from a team of 1 employee to 15, and completed over 800 projects in that time.
New Training Requirements for OJT Mentors & Assessors
In May 2023, the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/989 which amends Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014 on the “continuing airworthiness of aircraft and aeronautical products, parts and appliances, and on the approval of organizations and personnel involved in these tasks” was released.
One major change was the introduction of more stringent requirements for the mentors and assessors of On-the-Job Training (OJT) applicants, to ensure that senior employees overseeing applicants’ OJT are suitably qualified to be teaching and evaluating.
Introducing the World’s First Operational Cabin Connectivity Retrofit for Every Business Jet
‘Connectivity’ has become a buzzword in aviation over the past few years, alongside ‘sustainability’ and ‘cyber security’. With internet connectivity becoming so readily available over the past few decades in every hotel, restaurant, conference, even on yachts, it’s no surprise that aircraft are no longer considered exempt from offering the same.
It’s become standard, expected even, that passengers flying in First or Business Class on airliners will receive free access to internet. So imagine a passenger’s shock when they discover that no internet connectivity is available on an exclusive charter flight.
Portable Halon Fire Extinguishers to be Phased Out by End of 2025
In 2019, regulatory bodies, including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), mandated the elimination of extinguishers containing Halon from aircraft.
For aircraft owners and operators of EU-registered aircraft who have handheld Halon fire extinguishers on board, these must be replaced with environmentally friendly alternatives by the end of 2025, as per EASA Regulation (EC) No 1005/2009, amended by (EU) 2024/590.
When Instructions for Continued Airworthiness have a Detrimental Effect on Reliability
It started with a highly valued customer approaching us with a request for QCM Design’s certification services. During subsequent investigations, we found, as part of our transition to the Design Management System (DMS) in accordance with Part 21 (21.A.239), a potential design deficiency that had an impact on the continuity of function of the associated Category II (CAT II) system installed in the Citation XLS+.

Transforming Aircraft Interiors: Quick-Release Bulkhead for Medivac
In the realm of aviation, adaptability is not just a luxury but a necessity. Aircraft owners and operators often face the challenge of configuring their cabins to meet diverse needs, from providing medical evacuation capabilities to offering luxurious VIP experiences. This challenge becomes even more complex when considering the resale value of the aircraft. How can one balance the need for a medivac setup with the desire to maintain the pristine condition of a VIP configuration for future buyers?

QCM Summer Party 2022
After two years of not really being able to get together, the QCM Team finally met again during our Summer Party in June. Our colleagues from Prague, Budapest, Lodz and Vienna flocked to the HQ in Belp to spend an adventurous day within the beautiful region of Belp.
A barbecue by the river Aare was followed by a short training session on the Auguet Bridge where we found shelter from the rain. After that we had a quick drink at the local swimming pool, where some even dared to take a dip. We finished up our day at the office where we enjoyed drinks and food and boogied the night away with friends and family.
It was lovely to get together like that and some employees finally meeting for the first time. We are already looking forward to next year.
