Background

Dirk’s journey in aviation began with glider flying in Stralsund from the age of 14. After receiving the glider pilot license and the glider aerobatic rating in the age of 17, he finished school, made his driver license and studied aeronautics and astronautics at Dresden’s University of Technology. There, he majored in flight mechanics and aerodynamics, aircraft construction principles, composite materials and computational methods.

Graduated as Diplom-Ingenieur in 2011, he joined Grob Aircraft AG to support the initial type certification of the G 120TP, an all-composite airframe, turbo-prop trainer, as a structural design engineer and later on as a CVE for loads and structures. During this time, Dirk has been an active member of the German Glider Aerobatic National Team with which he participated in 5 World Advanced Glider Aerobatic Championships, resulting in some silver and bronze medals of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI).

In 2017, Dirk has moved to Switzerland and joined Pilatus Aircraft AG to support the initial type certification of the PC-24 as well as several major changes and numerous minor changes on PC-24, PC-21 and PC-12.

Further stations have been Aerolite AG and RUAG MRO AG, where various STC-projects for cockpit upgrades, cabin interior customizations and antenna installations on various helicopter types have been supported in the roles as a CVE in multiple disciplines and Certification Engineer.
