Target Group

Certifying Staff according EASA Part-66 or GCAA CAR-66 or CASA CAR-66 Category B1 or B2

Pre-requisites

The students are required to have the knowledge and experience level required for licenses issued under CASA requirements, GCAA requirements, EASA requirements, ICAO standards or equivalents.

The student is required to have good knowledge of general English language and of the technical English terms used in Aviation.

Objectives

After completion of the Boeing 737-600/700/800/900 type training course the student will be able to:

  • Identify and recall safety precautions related mainly to electrical and avionics systems
  • Identify maintenance practices important to electrical and avionics systems
  • Define the general layout and characteristics of the electrical and avionics systems
  • Identify and use appropriate documentation.
  • Identify, locate and describe the function of the major components associated with each system.
  • Identify special tooling and test equipment used with the aircraft
  • Describe systems and aircraft handling, particularly access, power availability and sources.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the main ramp and transit activities for electrical and avionics systems
  • Explain the normal function of electrical and avionics systems, including terminology and nomenclature.
  • Perform the procedures for ramp and transit servicing associated with electrical and avionics systems
  • Demonstrate proficiency in use of crew reports and on-board reporting systems and determine aircraft airworthiness per Minimum Equipment List and Configuration Deviation List.
  • Perform functional checks on avionics and electrical systems, as specified in the maintenance manual.
  • Correlate information for the purpose of making decisions in respect of fault diagnosis and rectification to maintenance manual level. (Troubleshooting)

This requires understanding and access to documentation, such as the Maintenance Manual, Schematics Manual, Wiring Diagrams, Illustrated Parts Catalogue, Master Minimum Equipment List, Configuration Deviation List and the necessary Tool and Equipment.

Completion Standard

For the examination a minimum score of 75% is required in order to receive a Certificate of Recognition for the theory part.
