Target Group

Certifying Staff according EASA Part-66 or GCAA CAR-66 or CASA CAR-66 Category B1: Line and Base Maintenance Technicians – Mechanical


Participants should have a EASA Part-66 or GCAA CAR-66 or CASA CAR-66 Aircraft Maintenance License Cat. B1 or equivalent.

The students are required to have the knowledge and experience level required for licences issued under CASA requirements, GCAA requirements, EASA requirements, ICAO standard qualifications or equivalent.

The student is required to have good knowledge of general English language and of the technical English therms used in Aviation.


Upon completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Describe aircraft systems and their handling, using correct terminology and nomenclature
  • Identify the location of system components
  • Describe the relevant safety precautions
  • Explain the normal function of the aircraft systems
  • Identify and use appropriate aircraft documentation
  • Describe routine ramp and transit activities
  • Describe procedures for removal / installation unique to the aircraft type
  • Describe system, engine and component functional checks as specified in the maintenance manual
  • Use and interpret on-board diagnostics to a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU)
  • Correlate information for the purpose of making decisions with respect to fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Determine aircraft airworthiness in accordance with MEL/CDL, by using crew reports and/or on-board reporting systems

Instruction Method

During the practical training, the students will take part in the daily work carried out on the Aircraft.

They will observe and perform relatively simple tasks as well as participate in more complex maintenance tasks.

Completion Standard

At least 50 % of the Practical Training Logbook shall be completed as part of the practical training.

At the completion of the training, an assessment will take place to assess the level of knowledge of each individual student to ensure that the objectives of the Practical training are met.

At successful completion of the above, the trainees will receive the Airbus A319/20/21 IAE V2500 B1 Practical Training Certificate of Recognition.
